At BizTalk360, we continuously work on improving the product based on valuable customer feedback. One such improvement was **pagination,** it was implemented across the application to improve responsiveness. However, several other factors can contribute to BizTalk360 performance bottlenecks. The following are some recommendations to help improve application performance. ### Possible Causes and Recommendations #### 1. Huge Data Population One of the primary reasons for performance issues can be a large volume of data in the BizTalk360 or BizTalk Server databases. When a large amount of data is available, database queries may take longer to execute and return results. This can lead to increased response times and, in some cases, timeout exceptions. To avoid this, configure appropriate **purging and cleanup jobs** for both the BizTalk360 and BizTalk Server databases. **Example:** If the BizTalk Tracking Database contains approximately **8 million records**, BizTalk360 may take longer than usual to retrieve the required data. This can potentially result in timeout exceptions in features such as **Process Monitoring**. #### 2. Clear Browser Cookies and Cache In some cases, accumulated browser cookies and cached data can affect application performance. Clear the browser's cookies and cache and then access BizTalk360 again to check whether the performance improves. #### 3. Use an Up-to-Date Browser Using an outdated browser version can sometimes affect the performance of web applications. We recommend using the latest supported version of your preferred browser to ensure optimal performance and compatibility with BizTalk360. #### 4. Configure required event sources in the Advanced Event Viewer BizTalk360 provides the **Advanced Event Viewer**, which allows you to configure the event log sources that need to be monitored. BizTalk360 is shipped with a set of default event sources. These can be customized based on your business requirements. Configure only the required event sources to avoid unnecessary data collection. For more information, refer to the documentation on [configuring event logs and event sources](/v12/docs/advanced-event-viewer-settings) for the [Advanced Event Viewer](/v12/docs/advanced-event-viewer-operations). ![](https://cdn.document360.io/253f6006-3994-42d0-98cd-fdc637f51791/Images/Documentation/image-WWYHI77T.png) ## 5. Release Unused Database Space In some situations, a database may have a significant amount of unused or free space, which can consume disk space on the SQL Server. Release the unused space by shrinking the database files. To shrink the BizTalk360 database: 1. Open **SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)**. 2. Right-click the **BizTalk360 database**. 3. Select **Tasks → Shrink → Files** 4. In the **Shrink File** window, select **Data** as the file type and perform the required operation. 5. Repeat the process for the **Log** file if required. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/253f6006-3994-42d0-98cd-fdc637f51791/Images/Documentation/image-LSMIZ4DX.png)![](https://cdn.document360.io/253f6006-3994-42d0-98cd-fdc637f51791/Images/Documentation/image-16RXE3RM.png) > [!WARNING] > **Note:** Database shrinking should not be performed as a routine maintenance activity. It should be considered only when there is a specific requirement > > to reclaim disk space. #### 6. Disable Unnecessary Browser Extensions Browser extensions can consume additional memory and CPU resources by running background processes. If multiple extensions are installed and active, they may affect browser performance and cause the BizTalk360 UI to respond slowly. To troubleshoot this: - Disable unnecessary browser extensions. - Use only the extensions required for your daily activities. - Try accessing BizTalk360 using a browser profile without extensions to determine whether an extension is contributing to the issue. #### 7. Check for Network-Related Issues Network latency can also contribute to slow response times in BizTalk360. The application performance can be affected by factors such as: - Network latency between the client and BizTalk360 server - Network latency between BizTalk360 and the BizTalk Server environment - Complex network architecture - Firewall or proxy configurations - High network traffic If the BizTalk360 portal takes an unusually long time to load pages, switch between environments, or execute queries, investigate the network connectivity between the relevant components. ## 8. Custom Cache Implementation If the BizTalk360 portal takes an unusually long time to load pages, switch between environments, or execute queries, enabling the **Active Directory Cache** may improve the response time of certain REST API calls. By default, the Active Directory Cache option will be enabled; if it is disabled, enable it. If your environment has a complex **Active Directory or NT Group configuration**, enabling the cache can improve performance by reducing the frequency of Active Directory lookups. You can configure this option from: **BizTalk360 → Settings → System Settings** ![](https://cdn.document360.io/253f6006-3994-42d0-98cd-fdc637f51791/Images/Documentation/image-VHRKW1AX.png) > [!TIP] > **Note:** Once the Active Directory Cache is enabled, the cache is retained for **2 hours**. If you make changes to Active Directory user accounts or group it may not be reflected immediately in BizTalk360. **Disable and re-enable the Active Directory Cache** after making user or group changes. After completing the operation, restart the **BizTalk360 Monitoring Service** and verify the application performance. ## Summary BizTalk360 performance can be affected by several factors, including database size, browser configuration, network latency, browser extensions, and Active Directory complexity. When troubleshooting slowness, we recommend checking the following: - Configure appropriate database purge and cleanup jobs. - Keep the browser updated. - Clear browser cookies and cache. - Configure only the required Advanced Event Viewer sources. - Check database disk space and reclaim unused space when necessary. - Disable unnecessary browser extensions. - Investigate network latency and connectivity. - Enable Active Directory Cache when working with complex Active Directory or NT Group configurations. Following these recommendations can help identify common causes of BizTalk360 performance issues and improve the overall responsiveness of the application.
