Article summary

When it comes to managing access and permissions for the Administration, Monitoring, and Analytics Sections, users with administrators' access can use profile templates to efficiently provide authorizations. These templates provide a user-friendly approach by offering predefined sets of permissions that can be customized to specific rule sets.

Rather than manually selecting individual features, profile templates facilitate quick and easy selection, simplifying the process for administrators. This functionality enables administrators to provide similar access levels to various users rapidly, without the need for extensive configuration.

There are two different templates available, the Predefined User Profile Template and the Custom Profile Template. The Predefined Profile Template comes preconfigured with standard sets of permissions suitable for common roles within the organization. Whereas the Custom Profile Template offers flexibility, allowing administrators to provide customized permissions to unique roles based on their business requirements.

Predefined User Profile Template

BizTalk360 comes with three predefined profile templates that the user can select for providing access to the features. These templates come as part of the BizTalk360 installation. They are denoted with suffixes as ‘System Predefined’ in the drop-down in the Add permissions section. When the template is chosen, the corresponding features get selected.

The predefined templates are:

  • View only modules - Choosing this template will provide read-only access to few features in BizTalk360This will be helpful for the Level 1 support team.
  • Limited operation access - This provides access for the users to operate on Host Instance, applications, and service instances.
  • Full access to all modules - As the name implies, the user will have access to all the features when this template is chosen.

Custom Profile Template

To provide access to similar features to Multiple Users, custom profile can be created. Assume that multiple users must be provided access for Administration module within BizTalk360. In such case, the custom template can be selected from the drop-down and Administration access alone can be enabled. Custom templates can be created by following the steps below:

  1. Log in to the application as a Super User.
  2. Choose an environment from the environmental panel.
  3. Navigate to Settings in the left menu bar.
  4. Select Team Management from the left menu bar.
  5. Click on the Manage User Profiles option.
  6. Here, you can create a new template or modify/delete an existing one.

A custom template can be created by providing a name to the template and selecting the features to be added to the template. With this feature, for each custom template, you can select particular permissions and store them as a custom template.

Once the custom templates are created, they will be available in the drop-down in the User Permissions - Features section, where the user can choose the custom template and provide access to the users/groups. Based on the selected custom template, the corresponding features in the template will be available for the users to access.

Available permissions

BizTalk360 offers users detailed control over their access to all the features. At the top level, users can manage:

  • Administration
  • Monitoring
  • Analytics

Each of these categories corresponds to distinct sections within the product. For instance, the Administration section has modules such as Rules, EDI, and ESB Portal, which are accessible via the left-hand side menu. Within each module, users can assign specific permissions, granting varying levels of access and control.
