In this article, we have a detailed look into configuring File monitoring in BizTalk360. BizTalk360 will automatically list all the available Receive Locations and Send Ports which are using the FILE adapter. The following will be discussed:

  • How to assign permission for user(s) to manage File Locations
  • Setting up File Monitoring

How to assign permission for user(s) to manage File Locations

By default, only Super Users have permissions to grant access to set up monitoring in BizTalk360. For Normal users, in order to be able to set up monitoring on File locations, a super user needs to grant the permissions under the User Access Policy section in BizTalk360 Settings.

Follow the steps as shown below to grant access permissions to a normal user:

  • Log in to BizTalk360 (as a Super User)
  • Click the Settings icon at the top right corner of the window
  • Select User Access Policy from the left navigation menu
  • Create a new user by clicking the New button
  • Enter the user name as Scott, domain name, and select the environment for which the user will have access (say, Testing/Staging/Non-Production) and click Next
  • Choose the Applications for which the user will have permission and click Next
  • In the User Access (module wise) section, enable the toggle for Monitoring section. This will open up the options available under the monitoring section.
  • Select the Manage Alarm check box

The Count and the Directory Size will be displayed in the Alarm-File Location grid only after the successful configuration of the File location. The values of the Count and Directory Size depends on the File Mask

The file location will be moved to orphaned if the configuration is not successful

BizTalk360 v8.5 supports directory size monitoring for file locations. This functionality helps to monitor the size of entire folder irrespective of the file mask, i.e the folder may contain various types of files like XML, txt, png etc., but the configured file mask of the port, may be either one of this type. Therefore, the folder size means the entire folder with all file types
