What is the Integrated Troubleshooter

BizTalk360 Troubleshooter is not a new tool/concept that we have introduced in BizTalk360. We already have the BizTalk360 Troubleshooter being used by our customers for the smooth and seamless installation of BizTalk360 on their BizTalk server environments. BizTalk360 Troubleshooter contains an extensive set of rules to verify the prerequisite conditions in order to successfully run BizTalk360. The initial version of BizTalk360 troubleshooter had all the details in a single pane/view. We improved the troubleshooter tool to have a better user interface with a bunch of new sections to view the configuration problems and issues in the environment. For detailed information about BizTalk360 Troubleshooter, we recommend you to read this blog article.

Why the Integrated BizTalk360 Troubleshooter

In the previous versions of BizTalk360 troubleshooter, when the customers faced any issues while installing BizTalk360, we recommended them to run the troubleshooter tool to identify the problematic areas in their environment. Customers had to download the troubleshooter tool (as a separate tool) and view the issues in their BizTalk environment. In order to avoid this technical challenge and to create a seamless experience for our customers, we decided to implement the troubleshooter tool as a web-based offering of BizTalk360 application.

You need to keep in mind that BizTalk360 Troubleshooter will not transmit any information without your consent. The tool is designed to run a defined set of rules that will validate your BizTalk server configuration in order to identify any configuration issues or permission issues.

Overview of Troubleshoot section

The Troubleshoot section of BizTalk360 troubleshooter will provide the option to run the vast set of rules against your BizTalk server configuration. The tool will perform different checks such as IIS configuration, permissions on the IIS account, monitor account, analytics account, and SQL SELECT. In order to allow the tool to perform the checks, you need to provide the password for the IIS account, monitoring account, and analytics account. Once the passwords are entered, the rules will be executed and you will see the status against each condition. If the rules are executed successfully, you will see the status as Configured against the rule. If any rule has an error associated, you will see the status as Not Configured. The below screenshot shows the detailed troubleshoot section and the different options available in the page.

**Use one password for all accounts **- You can toggle the icon if the IIS account, Monitoring account, and Analytics account have the same password. By toggling the icon, you will notice that all the three sections (IIS, Monitoring, and Analytics) will be combined into a single section (Service Account) and you will have only one text box to enter the password. If you have different passwords, you need to enter the password separately for IIS, Monitoring, and Analytics accounts.
IIS Account - Enter the password for the IIS account that is associated with the configuration. The account name information will be pre-populated with the IIS account username.
Monitoring Account - Enter the password for the monitoring account that is associated with the configuration. The account name information will be pre-populated with the monitoring account username.
Analytics Account - Enter the password for the analytics account that is associated with the configuration. The account name information will be pre-populated with the analytics account username.
Verify - Click the Verify button to start the troubleshooter operation. Until you click the Verify button, all the rules in the next sections will have the status as Unknown against them.
IIS Check - Contains the different rules to be checked specific to IIS such as whether ASP.NET is installed, if Windows authentication is enabled, and so on. Clicking the Verify button (as explained in the previous step) will run the troubleshooter tool and you will notice the status against each rule (such as Configured, Not Configured, Unknown).
Hotfix - If you are using Windows Server 2008, you may encounter an error as described in this article. To overcome this, you need to install a hotfix. If you have done this already, you will see the result of this configuration as Configured. If you are using any other versions of Windows server, the result of this step will display as Unknown.
Choose an environment - You can choose an environment from the drop down to view the status of configuration. When you run the troubleshooter, it will by default run the tool on all configured environments.
Permissions Check - This section contains all the rules that are related to checking the permissions for all the accounts (IIS, monitoring, analytics)
SQL select permission check - This section contains all the rules that are related to checking the SQL select permissions on the database
