Many customers often have this query on placement of the BizTalk360 database. Is it good (or bad) practice to place this on the same server as the actual BizTalk databases? The question is mainly from the perspective of performance and high avaiability.
Our Recommendations:
Install the BizTalk360 database in a separate SQL Instance from BizTalk Databases
- If the environment is very large scaled and the BizTalk databases are heavily used, than it might be better to move the BizTalk360 database to another instance.
- It provides the monitoring high avaiability. Even the BizTalk SQL Instances goes down BizTalk360 is monitoring the BizTalk environment !
Also upgrades can be done without the fear of anything affecting production environment. Also, from a performance point of view, it can be helpful. But, we also have many customers who have BizTalk360 on the same BizTalk server machine and have no issues.
It would depend on the customers requirement and also depends a bit on the load of the BizTalk databases. If the BizTalk databases load is not much heavy and have the adequate infrastructure in place means, you can have BizTalk360 database in the same SQL Servers of BizTalk databases.
