Introduction

BizTalk Application Automated Task Configuration allows you to configure the start and stop operations on BizTalk applications.

At times deployment team may want to deploy the new changes of a BizTalk Application from the test to the staging environment to adhere to the business change. In this situation, they need to stop the application manually. With the automated BizTalk application task, you can automate this process of starting/stopping the application and its artifacts .

BizTalk360 Automated Application tasks allow you to take the below actions 

1) Start the Application 

2) Stop the Application, by selecting any one of the below options

  • Disable only receive locations
  • Disable Receive locations, Stop all Orchestrations, Send Ports and Send port groups 
  • Disable Receive locations, unenlist Orchestration, Send ports, and  Send port groups

Application Task Configuration 

  • Navigate to Environment Settings->Automated Task ->New Task Configuration 
  • In The New Task Configuration select Application which will open the task configuration blade  
  • Add the Task Name and Description 
  • Application Action- Select which action needs to perform Start/Stop
  • Select Application - Select the Application which needs to be started or stopped 
  • Enable/Disable the task for execution. By default, the task execution will be enabled
  • Run this task immediately after saving - Enable this option to run the task immediately after saving the task configuration. However, the same task will execute again during the scheduled time.
  • Follow this article for Schedule Configuration 
  • Notification Configuration - Enable the channels in which you wish to get notified about the actions performed on Application Artifacts. 

On successful task configuration, you can see the task in the configuration grid along with the task name, resource type, resource details, action, schedule type, and next execution time.

The below gif image will go through the steps to configure the application task- to fully stop the application 'CustomerOrderRouting' which is planned to deploy at a specific time.


After execution, the task configured with a one-time schedule will be removed from the system. To view the details of task execution, check "Task History."
